Overview
The Wein Lab is focusing on Neuromuscular Disorders such as Duchenne Muscular dystrophy, which is a devastating disease leading to death of patients at age 20-30 years. Our lab developed an expertise in translational research, an emerging field which can be summarized as understanding the cause of a disease and learning from it in order to develop innovative therapeutic strategies. We are fully committed to continuing to integrate basic science and gene therapy skills in order to advance understanding and treatment of the muscular dystrophies. Our lab long term project focus on RNA and DNA editing and gene transfer as therapies for neuromuscular disorders, but it will also include more fundamental research on muscle function. In particular, our lab uses most recent technologies such as virus-mediated exon-skipping and the CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing tool. We are looking for a highly motivated research associate person who is energetic and intelligent to join our dynamic team. In particular, we are looking for someone with experience in molecular biology (qPCR, IF, WB), as well as mouse injection and dissection experiences for neuromuscular disorders. Experience in dissecting and mounting muscle tissue is preferred. No background in gene therapy is required, however the person should have a high interested in human genetics and diseases and should be eager to learn and work on the bench in an independent manner. Finally, our team relies on good teamwork and therefore, the candidate should be a good communicator and team player. The job description includes, but is not restricted to performing research experiments, maintaining records of experiments, preparing laboratory reports, analyzing data and preparing publications and grants applications.

 A full-time Clinical Research Coordinator is being recruited for a collaborative research team investigating the relationship between brain development and mental wellbeing in youth. The successful candidate will contribute multiple ongoing studies examining the neuroanatomical and functional substrates that contribute to cognitive, social and emotional functioning in both medical populations and healthy youth. Duties will involve direct work with research participants (recruitment, in-person data collection), including helping to execute study visits involving magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), neurocognitive assessment, data management, statistical analyses, and dissemination of research results. Data management will include scoring standardized assessments, medical record reviews, data entry and verification, and training in the processing of neuroimaging data. This position will involve close collaboration with the principal investigator, as well as other research staff and investigators at NCH and medical staff at NCH/The Ohio State University. Opportunities exist for mentorship and professional development for applicants who are interested in gaining experience that will prepare them to apply for advanced graduate programs, particularly in clinical psychology, neuropsychology, or neuroscience. In addition to mentorship provided by the lab principal investigator, lab members have the option to participate in the Center for Biobehavioral Health Post-Baccalaureate Program, which is dedicated to aiding staff in identifying and understanding career paths and managing the application process for various fields’ graduate programs. A full-time Research Coordinator is being recruited for a collaborative research team that is focused on examining family adjustment to children’s life-threatening conditions, such as cancer. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing work with children and adolescents with cancer. The Bedrosian lab in the Institute for Genomic Medicine is seeking a post-doctoral scientist to join our team. Our translational research group focuses on studying the genetics of epilepsy and other neurodevelopmental diseases using patient-derived tissue as well as murine models. We use cutting-edge techniques including single cell RNA-sequencing, spatial transcriptomics/proteomics, and other genomic techniques. The successful candidate will be engaged in projects exploring the molecular etiology of epilepsies through bioinformatic analysis of single-cell sequencing data and other genomic data. Overview
The Biopathology Center (BPC) within The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is a primarily grant-funded biorepository with the objective of acquisition and long-term storage of a large number of cancerous, normal and diseased biospecimens and related data. These biospecimens are used to support and facilitate cutting edge research and advancing clinical patient care. In accordance with provisions of approved protocols, the BPC currently serves as biorepositories for the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), NRG Oncology, SWOG (formerly the Southwestern Oncology Group), the Pediatric Division of the Collaborative Human Tissue Network (pCHTN), internal investigators, and other sponsor groups. This is a fast-paced, team-oriented laboratory that requires the ability to work well under pressure and maintain constant attention to detail. The position requires frequent communication via phone and email with submitting institutions as well as internal coordinating laboratories. This role does not perform hypothesis-based research or analysis on the biospecimens – we serve a supporting role to facilitate research. The Lab Support Associate is responsible for providing clerical and general support to the Biospecimen Processing and Receiving Laboratory. Duties include, but are not limited to, transportation of specimens, providing effective communication with regards to specimens and collection information, and providing an appropriate link to other lab sections when needed.
