We are seeking a Cell-Based Therapies Technicial I  - The Cell-Based Therapies Technician I will work on a development team to transition existing cell-based therapy laboratory methods to the GMP production facility.  The Technician will be required to master common techniques and equipment such as ultracentrifugation, bioreactor production of suspension cells, NOVA chemistry and cell analyzers, COBE cell processor and others.  The Technician will work in collaboration with the GMP Development Manager and staff and will use these techniques and equipment to develop the cell-based therapy methods into closed system, high-throughput, scale-able processes for the GMP production facility.

Research Associate- Research Injury | Full time Exempt: Main Campus; Mon-Fri 8 AM – 5 PM |   | We are seeking an individual to join the research team of the Center for Pediatric Trauma Research (CPTR) and the Center for Injury Research and Policy (CIRP), Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Using a multidisciplinary approach, CPTR researchers lead innovative projects to assess pre-hospital emergency medical service, acute medical and surgical management, rehabilitation, and family and community services that impact the short and long-term outcomes of injured patients. This position will involve direct research participant interaction with children as well as adults both in person and over the phone. Possible duties may include: review medical charts to identify potential participants; assembling and sending recruitment materials and research surveys via postal mail or electronically; participant recruitment both face-to-face and over the phone; describing the study to families and guiding them through the informed consent process; collecting data over the phone, and in person at Nationwide Children’s Hospital or at the Ohio State University Medical Center; organizing completed surveys, and entering data into a computer database; maintaining participant files and tracking progress throughout study participation; making recommendations about refinement and/or replacement of study procedures. The Research Associate also need to participate in drafting project reports or manuscripts. Evening and weekend hours may be required to accommodate data collection efforts.

In accordance with provisions of approved protocols, the BPC serves as biorepositories for the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), NRG Oncology, SWOG (formerly the Southwest Oncology Group), the Pediatric Division of the Cooperative Human Tissue Network (pCHTN), Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network (ETCTN), and other sponsor groups. This role does not perform hypothesis-based research on the biospecimens – we serve a supporting role to facilitate clinical testing and research. The Supervisor is responsible for overall operations of assigned laboratory section. This task is accomplished through oversight of biorepository operations, which could include handling, processing, and distribution of biorepository specimens as well as technical decisions/direction (if applicable). This role includes direction of workforce, problem investigation and resolution, developing and implementing procedures/processes, assuring quality and regulatory compliance tasks, assignment/delegation of duties, education/competency and training, and communication with a variety of different customers.

The Malerba Lab at the Abigail Wexner Research Institute Battelle Center for Mathematical Medicine in Columbus, Ohio is looking for a new Research Associate. The lab focuses on brain rhythms, especially during sleep, and their role in cognition (memory and motor skills). We are looking for a detail-oriented, adaptable and curious mind, who has graduate-level training and at least one year of experience working in a research lab. The position (initially for one year, with possible extension tied to lab funding) will be centered on high-level quantitative EEG analysis and simulations of neural network dynamics related to ongoing research projects. Demonstrated proficiency in programming (Matlab and python) is required, and so is interest in how brain dynamics is tied to behavior. Some neuroscience training is desirable. A small part of the position will be to screen and coordinate research subjects for participation to ongoing studies, hence timeliness and people skills are necessary. The Research Institute at NCH is a collaborative interdisciplinary environment, that strives to apply the most modern knowledge to challenging questions with high impact. The Malerba lab is part of the Center for Mathematical Medicine, and contributes to the Chronic Brain Injury collaborative at Ohio State University and the Neurodevelopmental Research Interest Group at NCH. We have collaborations at local, national and international level and are developing strategies to introduce brain dynamics during sleep to the toolbox of medical interventions.

CSOR, within the Center for Innovation in Pediatric Practice, conducts applied clinical and health services research on a wide variety of topics related to pediatric surgery and also performs methodological research in epidemiology and biostatistics. The Senior Research Scientist will be integral to maintaining the strong collaborative reputation of CSOR through ensuring the integrity of research study design, data collection, management, analysis, and dissemination. He or she will be integral to framing and furthering the research of CSOR investigators as well as surgeons and surgical residents and fellows across multiple surgical sub-specialties, especially pediatric general surgery and urology.
