JOB POSTING – BPC Redaction Clinical Research Assistant | Full time Non- Exempt |   | We are seeking a BPC Redaction Clinical Research Assistant -  The Biopathology Center (BPC) within The Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) is a primarily grant-funded biorepository and clinical laboratory with the objective of acquisition and long-term storage of a large number of cancerous, normal and diseased biospecimens and related data. These biospecimens are used for supporting and facilitating cutting edge research and advancing clinical patient care. In accordance with provisions of approved protocols, the BPC serves as biorepositories for the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), NRG Oncology, SWOG (formerly the Southwest Oncology Group), the Pediatric Division of the Cooperative Human Tissue Network (pCHTN), Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network (ETCTN), and other sponsor groups. The BPC is a fast-paced, team-oriented environment that requires the ability to work well under pressure and maintain careful and constant attention to detail. The position requires frequent communication via phone and email with submitting institutions, internal coordinating laboratories, and external investigators/laboratories. This position serves as a supporting role to facilitate clinical testing and research on incoming and stored biospecimens and their related documentation (i.e., pathology reports, etc.). (This role does not perform hypothesis-based research on the biospecimens.) The Redaction Clinical Research Assistant’s primary responsibility is to support the activities of the BPC by ensuring appropriate handling of related and protocol-specific paperwork, which will frequently contain personally identifiable information (PII). This role includes, but is not limited to, screening and redaction of all incoming documentation, determining proper handling and dissemination of paperwork based on protocol requirements, compliance with HIPAA and NCH HIM policy, tracking of specimen-specific paperwork, including redaction status, organization and location of original documents, redacted and electronic versions of said documentation. In addition to redactions, this position may also provide general research support to collaborating team members and BPC leadership, as needed, including knowledge-sharing and cross-coverage with other BPC teams.

Post Doctoral Scientist- Center for Regenerative Medicine | Full Time, Benefit Eligible |   | We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist- this position is available within the Center for Regenerative Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital working with Dr. Mitchel Stacy. Research in the lab is focused on the development of non-invasive medical imaging techniques for evaluation and characterization of cardiovascular diseases and regenerative medicine scaffolds. Of particular interest is imaging of quantitative perfusion, vascular inflammation, and vascular remodeling. The lab utilizes multiple imaging modalities, which include SPECT/CT, PET/CT, CT angiography, ultrasound, and MRI. Experimental work and training will be focused on pre-clinical and clinical imaging of vascular diseases, tissue-engineered scaffolds, and diabetes, with particular emphasis on medical image processing methodology. Imaging research will be completed through collaborative efforts between The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Candidates should be highly motivated with an interest in pre-clinical and/or clinical imaging.

Research Assistant- Center for Injury Research and Policy | Full time: Main Campus; Mon-Fri 8 AM – 5 PM |   |   | We are seeking a Research Assistant- The Center for Injury Research and Policy contributes to the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) as one of only eight pediatric hospital reporting sites among a network of 100 hospitals nationally. More than 20,000 children are treated for an injury in the emergency department at Nationwide Children's Hospital annually. The NEISS Research Assistant (NRA) is supervised by the NEISS Program Coordinator (NPC). The primary duty of the NRA is to extract data from the medical records of children who are treated for an injury in the Nationwide Children's Hospital emergency department and enter these data into the NEISS/ NEISS All-Injury Program database during weekdays according to established protocol. The NRA assists the NPC with this responsibility. The NRA also analyzes data and prepares responses and reports for the CPSC and PI. The NRA assists the NPC and PI in the preparation of reports, publications, educational materials, and grant proposals using NEISS data. The position requires highly detailed work, near 100% accuracy, and sensitivity to time requirements established by the CPSC. Data are transmitted to the CPSC from Nationwide Children's Hospital daily. These data are analyzed by researchers at the CPSC, Center for Injury Research and Policy at Nationwide Children's Hospital, and elsewhere. Information gathered from the NEISS allows estimation of the number and types of injuries treated in hospital emergency departments nationwide and provides evidence for public awareness campaigns, consumer product safety standards, and product recalls as needed.
