Overview
This 2-year program is designed to provide clinical and research training to develop advanced competencies in the specialty area of pediatric psychology and intellectual and developmental disabilities. IND Fellows are trained to diagnose neurodevelopmental disabilities, especially including Autism Spectrum Disorders, and to address the treatment needs of children and their families, with an emphasis on behavioral and physiological frameworks of understanding and interventions. Collaborations with medical disciplines and with faculty at Ohio State University's Nisonger Center for Developmental Disabilities can be arranged. The Child Development Center is an Autism Speaks Autism Treatment Network (ATN) site which brings opportunity for research and quality improvement activities for our fellows. The Stipend is $42,000 for the first year and increases to at least $43,680 for the second year with a full benefit package; adjustments are made for prior post-doctoral experience. We are recruiting until positions are filled. The Child Development Center provides interdisciplinary services to children with suspected developmental disabilities and their families. Fellows participate in teaching clinics and seminars related to the specialty area. The Child Development works in collaboration with an Autism Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) program based on the UCLA model, and collaborative training opportunities with that center can be arranged. Inpatient consultation and participation in medical clinics are an essential part of the program, permitting additional specialized experiences. Rotation experiences are individualized based upon the fellow?s interest and can include work in our interdisciplinary Neurodevelopmental Clinic, Down Syndrome Clinic, Prader Willi Clinic, Feeding Evaluation Clinic, Bowel Management-GI Clinic, International Adoption Clinic, Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, Neonatal Long-term Follow-up Program, and Post-Injury (Shaken Baby) Clinic. Opportunities to participate in rural outreach clinics and tele-health activities also exist. Specific training in advocacy and program development are an integrated part of this fellowship. Research activities are directed by the fellow?s interest, though the training faculty currently participates in more than a half dozen federally funded research projects in autism and developmental disabilities.Nationwide Children?s Hospital provides the majority of pediatric and pediatric behavioral health care services and training opportunities in Central and South-Eastern Ohio and serve a population area of over 3 million.
