Overview

The Instrument Tech is responsible for maintaining inventory of Dental supplies, equipment, and specialized instruments. Additionally, the tech provides support in the preparation of instruments prior to sterilization.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, restocks, and records ongoing inventory of Dental clinical supplies and equipment.
• Ensures that all equipment is properly stored, cleaned, and disinfected between uses. Reports any equipment needing repair or replaced.
• Assists in orientation of new staff to reprocessing of instruments and equipment (new and existing). Participates in use & care in-services and performs audits, as necessary.
• Acts as equipment and instrument liaison between Central Processing, Central Distribution, and Biomedical Engineering.
• Assembles and transports supplies and equipment for Dental procedures.
• Assists in all functions related to clinic environment of care standards.

Qualifications

Education: High School Graduate.

Skills:
• Ability to understand and apply standards of infection control.
• Ability to manage processes involving large amounts of detail.
