Planning Consultant 

 

The Planning Consultant manages, coordinates, and develops clinical planning projects and assists with strategic planning activities, budget forecasting, and other projects throughout the healthcare system. The Consultant executes and communicates complex analyses to Hospital and Medical Staff leadership, via business plans, project coordination, and in-depth examination of business and market environments.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates production and evaluation of institutional and programmatic strategic plans, including plan development, objective measurement, and identification of implementation steps. Assists leaders in creating a vision and objectives that align with the organization’s strategic plan. Completes strategic analyses, organizes individual objectives, and tracks strategic plan.
• Develops business plans for new services through quantitative and qualitative research, including market research, volume projections, identification of required resources, and implementation guideline development. Creates service line, benchmarking, and competitor market assessments. Designs and develops documents and reports through succinct, graphic dissemination of information.
• Collaborates to develop market research recommendations and marketing plans, develops financial analysis, and guides predictions of demographics, service demands, capacity, etc. for short and long-range strategic, programmatic, and facility plans and processes, including forecasting volumes for the annual operating budget.
• Maintains knowledge of appropriate resources and tools including monthly reports, census data, consulting and national association tools and reports, Qlikview, etc. Carries out special projects for PBD management or NCH Administration.
• Serves as “owner representative” for off-site facility development. Coordinates the business plan, collaborates to determine facility needs, works with architects on facility design, and coordinates opening of facility post-construction.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

Education Requirement:
• Bachelors, required.
• Masters Degree in Health Administration, Business, Planning, or Public Health Administration, preferred.

Skills:
• Analytical skills to assemble, evaluate, and understand large and complex information and studies, and to identify current and future trends.
• Extensive experience in spreadsheets and presentation graphics, required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills required to effectively interact at all levels. Efficient interpersonal skills to build necessary internal and external relationships.
• Ability to convert ambiguity into a clear framework for advancement of work product and deliverables.
• Clinical knowledge to understand healthcare-specific information and healthcare business terminology.

Experience:
• 1 year of academic or professional experience in planning, health care development, or physician relations required, required.
• Healthcare experience, preferred.
