Overview

The Housekeeper I is responsible for cleaning and servicing patient care areas, offices, lobbies, bathrooms or other areas as assigned; high and low dusting, dampwiping horizontal and vertical surfaces such as chairs, tops of bedside cabinets, stands, lamps, tops of overbed tables, telephones, window sills, coffee tables, various ledges and counter tops with the exception of all technical equipment including computers. Arrange furniture in neat and orderly fashion. Cleans and disinfect bath tubs, sinks, toilets, urinals; clean and polish all mirrors and metal, brass and aluminum metals, glass panels in doors, cleaning and making beds; dry mop and damp mop or vacuum floors; and other related duties as assigned.

 

Schedule: (full-time, non-exempt) 2nd shift, 6:00pm-2:30am, Mon-Fri, Rotating weekends, no holidays

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine cleaning and building service work.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Seven Basic Cleaning Steps.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate chemical use to meet department standards (know chemical, it's proper use, has appropriately labeled and stored, etc.)
  • Practices proper methods of Infection Control in conjunction with cleaning procedures (changing of mop water, proper use of cleaning cloth and other equipment, etc.)
  • Has knowledge of applicable departmental policies and procedures and uses when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in job related skills.
  • Maintains closet, housekeeping cart and cleaning equipment in clean, orderly and good working condition.
  • Adheres to departmental dress code and practices personal hygiene.
  • Meets or exceeds department's standards of quality as evidenced by quality control inspections, and customer feedback.
  • Participates in staff meetings.
  • Attends all required mandatory inservices.
  • Works effectively as a member of a team.
  • Shows initiative in expanding job related skills.
  • Demonstrates commitment to providing a quality environment for patient care.
  • Demonstrates positive customer service skills.
  • Communicates issues/concerns to Supervisor/Assistant Director as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Experience preferred but not necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write.

 

Minimum Physical Requirement:

  • Weight requirement - Must be able to lift 40 lbs. independently.
  • Must be able to see, stand on feet for 8 hours, hear, walk, talk, and care of oneself with little or no difficulty.
