Overview

This position involves the administration and scoring of psychological tests under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. In addition, a Psychometrician provides behavioral observations of patients who are tested to the supervising psychologist. A Psychometrician must demonstrate competency in providing age-appropriate care to patients tested ranging in age from infancy to age 21 years.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, according to standardized directions, a variety of psychological tests including intellectual, achievement and neuropsychological tests to children and selected adults from infancy to adulthood
  • Score psychological tests according to test manuals and provides scored test protocols to supervising psychologist
  • Observe the behavior of patients during testing and reports these observations in writing to supervising psychologist
  • Maintain good rapport with patients by interacting in an age-appropriate manner(*)

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree with evidence of knowledge of test administration required.
  • A master degree in psychology or additional graduate course work is desirable.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with children of all ages.

 

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sitting on child size chair up to 90 minutes
  • Kneeling or stooping to administer test to infant up to 45 minutes
  • The abilities to talk and hear are essential
