Overview

Coordinates and oversees the database systems and registries including, data entry and analysis, development and communication of aggregate data, reports, clinical outcome measures, and ensures data validity.

 

Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday (1st shift)

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, coordinates, and monitors data collection, quality, and inter-rater reliability. Ensures all eligible participants are accurately captured and submitted to the specific comparative database. Completes routine audits as directed.
  • Reviews validation reports, makes appropriate corrections, and documents the results. Accurately calculates data and prepares it within the designated time frame.
  • Meets regularly to discuss issues and questions related to data collection and contacts the appropriate resource with questions. Communicates potential database improvements to the appropriate teams.
  • Exports data by submission due dates, manages database security and role assignments.
  • Coordinates completion of training and certification for self and all personnel that collect data for each specific database.
  • Participates in the Listserv discussions and relays pertinent information to appropriate team members for each database.
  • Maintains knowledge level and ability related to continuous quality improvement through publications, conferences, networking with other hospitals and through the website.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing or related field. BSN required. 
  • Masters in Nursing or related field preferred.

 

Licensure: 

  • Current RN license to practice in state of Ohio, preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Demonstrates experience in presentation skills and the ability to analyze and interpret statistical data.
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills necessary to present and communicate important information effectively to all levels of hospital staff.

 

Experience:

  • Clinical experience related to intensive care, surgery, and cardiology is desirable.
  • Medical record abstraction or clinical computer information systems experience is strongly desired.
  • Recent experience data mining/abstraction from an electronic medical record.
