Overview

The Coordinator for Creative Engagement schedules, plans, and facilitates activities, programs, and events and maintains related resources, activity rooms which provide developmental, educational, recreational, and socialization opportunities for children and families.

 

Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday (standard 1st shift business hours)

Responsibilities

• Engages children and families in hands-on activities to foster creativity, socialization, normalization, and play
• Adapts activities in a group setting during room-to-room visits and in bedside play to meet the identified needs of patients, families, and audience, with consideration of their developmental, educational, physical, and social needs.
• Communicates and collaborates with team members regarding patient and family experiences to increase support, documents all patient interactions, maintains data related to activity participation and provides timely communication by responding to and appropriately managing requests from donors, community performers and for special events.
• Schedules, plans, and organizes groups and visitors to support them in their interactions with children, families, and staff to enhance positive patient experiences.
• Recognizes, understands, and respects the diversity of patients and families and the impacts of healthcare experiences in providing services and developing supportive programs.
• Actively maintains playroom resources to sustain safe, clean, and accessible learning and play environment and management of departmental resources.
• Provides training and supervision for volunteers to ensure appropriate interaction and maintaining a safe environment.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, required. Child development, education, psychology, or related field, preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Ability to interact with both children and adults.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills including, ability to teach both individuals and groups.
  • Strong planning, organizational and decision-making skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to give and receive feedback.
  • Experience and comfort using a variety of technology, ability to learn new skills quickly.

 

Experience:

  • Experience in working with children in a healthcare setting, preferred.
