Overview

The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for managing the analysis, traceability, and validation of business and technical requirements for project, programs and enterprise solutions. In addition to performing all standard BA functions, the Sr. BA develops and directs requirement management plans and timelines for multiple large-scale projects/programs simultaneously, and provides enterprise analysis and recommended solutions to support the organization’s strategic goals. The Sr. BA partners with PM’s, product and process owners, as well as other BA’s to lead all aspects of requirements management and validation activities, including all phases of testing and vendor selection (RFI/RFP’s).

 

The Sr. BA develops, standardizes, and promotes adoption of new BA processes, tools and templates across the organization, and mentors others on BA methodologies, including vendor selection processes, and waterfall and agile techniques. The Sr. BA position is also capable of taking the lead on small to medium sized projects.

 

This is a full time, benefits eligible position.

Responsibilities

Business Analysis

  • Develops, organizes, and monitors detailed requirements and traceability documentation to capture strategic alignment, business value, feasibility, validation, and user acceptance criteria, for all projects.
  • Directs BA’s and other resources across multiple organizational and/or project teams to identify and solve enterprise (global) problems.
  • Collaborates and leads teams to establish the schedule and timeline for BA deliverables and milestones on projects.
  • Facilitates regular requirements solicitation and review meetings involving a cross-functional group of representation to ensure consensus, communicate risks, and minimize rework due to unclear expectations.
  • Leads and oversees the timely execution of requirements management plans on schedule, from discovery through validation and user acceptance, leveraging assigned resources if applicable.
  • Identify and coordinate all necessary resources across multiple projects and teams to ensure use cases are accurately mapped to test plans, and then validated by the appropriate SME’s to assure quality.
  • Drives decision-making and facilitates business case development and documentation.
  • Prepares and presents information to senior leadership in order to support effective decision making related to operations and strategy.
  • Leads teams independently to generate enterprise level analysis and recommend solutions for the organization to meet strategic goals (i.e. customers, technical teams and other BA resources).
  • Identifies global business rules, and works with IS and other stakeholders to develop and prioritize overlapping business or enterprise requirements across technologies and operations.
  • Conducts enterprise impact and gap analysis, and calls out risks and gaps in testing to improve quality.
  • Supports capital requests, intake, and project management processes by generating information to effectively communicate scope, cost, resource requirements, portfolio impact, FTE needs, and priority.
  • Collaborates with PM’s to effectively manage and deliver BA deliverables, and establish BA milestones for projects and programs.
  • Coordinates changes to existing applications on schedule, and supports effective project hand-off’s to support teams by delivering accurate workflow analysis, business and technical requirements traceability, and implementation requirements.
  • Insure the appropriate governance is in place for each project related to the project scope and impacts.
  • Maintains relevant professional knowledge and certifications to align the BA methodology with industry standards and best practices.
  • Assist and mentor other BA’s and project managers on large/complex projects as needed.
  • Holds vendor(s) accountable for delivering work on time and meeting agreed upon commitments.

Methodology Developments & Outreach

  • Defines, documents, and applies a variety of new BA tools, techniques, processes, and templates to streamline and share across the organization in order to promote successful outcomes for teams.
  • Matures the BA role and grows organizational knowledge of BA best practices through sharing, education, mentoring and outreach efforts with other teams and customers.
  • Expands BA methodology to leverage and incorporate Waterfall, ITIL, and Agile concepts.
  • Manages centralized repository of BA tools/templates/processes and generates adoption and standardization with other BA’s across the organization.
  • Leads and mentors other BA’s to review analysis and tracking templates and share lessons learned.
  • Implements BA best practices that align with industry standards, and is sought out as an authority on the BA role by leadership and fellow BA’s.
  • Ensures business value and project objectives are met by ensuring requirements management plans are established and followed.
  • Contributes to setting goals for the BA role with PMO and IS leadership support.
  • Recommends tools and automated systems to grow enterprise requirements management and quality assurance capabilities.
  • Mature the role of a BA using standardized BA concepts to increase usage and consistency of BA deliverables and templates.
  • Contributes to maturing ITIL processes in IS by aligning BA processes and quality measures to the ITIL framework when possible.
  • Leads small to medium complex project initiatives in conjunction with a Project Manager or as individually
    requested based on need.

Qualifications

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree desired.

Certifications:

  • Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) certification desirable. 

Skills:

  • Successfully managed requirement management plans for multiple large-scale projects/programs simultaneously.
  • Proven experience leading BA teams to accomplish organizational objectives.
  • Experience with traditional SDLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with ITIL preferred.
  • Experience leading small to medium projects preferred.
  • Ability to modify work schedules and practices to meet job requirements; requires occasional overnight travel.

Experience:

  • 7 + years of experience as a Business Analyst required.
  • 3 + years previous healthcare experience desirable.
  • At least 5+ years’ experience working with the Microsoft Project Server or a similar tool.
  • At least 5+ years’ experience working with Microsoft products (SharePoint, Visio, Excel, etc…)
  • Previous healthcare and/or Epic experience desirable.

Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires ability to talk, listen and type.
  • Ability to interact with customers and information systems personnel.
