Overview

The successful candidate will work with the Crerand Lab within the Center for Biobehavioral Health. Dr. Canice Crerand’s research focuses on psychosocial and health outcomes in children, adolescents, and adults with congenital conditions including craniofacial conditions such as cleft lip and palate, differences/disorders of sex development, and other conditions that may require plastic and/or reconstructive surgery.

Responsibilities

  • The Clinical Research Coordinator will provide support for NIH-funded studies and other projects as indicated.
  • Primary duties include screening potential participants for study eligibility; recruiting participants (via phone, mail, or in-person outpatient clinic visits); data collection (via survey and/or interview administration; medical chart abstraction); data management (using REDCap, SPSS, Excel).
  • There may be opportunities to assist in data analysis and the preparation of scientific publications, presentations, and research grant proposals.
  • The Clinical Research Coordinator may perform miscellaneous study-related duties as required.
  • Opportunities exist for mentorship and professional development for applicants who may be interested in gaining experience that will prepare them to apply for medical and/or graduate school in a health-related field.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree or equivalent work related experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in psychology, public health, epidemiology, or other health or clinical research related fields.
  • Previous research experience (preferably with behavioral or clinical research).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and in an engaging manner over the telephone and in person.
  • Team player who can maintain positive relationships with study participants, research team members, and clinical collaborators.
  • Ability to handle sensitive topics and confidential data appropriately.
  • Interest in working with parents, children, and adolescents.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software programs, including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Experience with REDCap, SPSS, NVIVO, or other similar programs preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) preferred.
