The Emergency Management Coordinator supports the preparedness efforts for all Nationwide Children’s Hospital locations and facilities, utilizing an all-hazards/all-threats approach.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that all Joint Commission requirements for Emergency Preparedness are met. Participates in several internal and external committees.
• Collaborates to ensure accuracy on educational programs related to Emergency Preparedness.
• Participate in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of emergency preparedness education to participants which may include licensed healthcare professional, hospital staff, patients and families or the general public.
• Provides direct service to internal or external customers. Provides a quality of service that customers describe as excellent.
• Communicates effectively with diverse audiences, using appropriate media and language. Ensures important messages are clearly understood.
• Provides feedback for improvement of procedures. Assists in the development and implementation of specific procedures.
• Responsible for planning, coordination, training and exercise evaluation, and maintenance of organizational emergency management plans for both internal and external events.
• Coordinates the planning of hospital disaster/emergency preparedness exercises, in partnership with other agencies such as Central Ohio Trauma System, County Emergency Management and Homeland Security agencies, and other appropriate agencies having jurisdictional authority.
• Identifies equipment and supply needs, provides input for capital and operational budgets related to emergency preparedness activities.
• Stays knowledgeable of related topics in the field. Identifies areas/issues appropriate for research study, including developing conditions in community/world.

Qualifications

Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in emergency management, healthcare administration, public administration, business administration OR related field

Certifications:
• Certified Emergency Manager (CEM or State-level equivalent) required. If not current, must secure within 12 months from date of hire.
• Completion of FEMA IS-100, 200, 700 and 800 courses, preferred.

Skills:
• Knowledge of Homeland Security's Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).
• Understanding of emergency and operational planning.
• Familiarity with Hospital-Based First Receivers of Victims Program.
• Demonstrated teaching and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated experience in educational program development and design.

Experience:
• 3 years’ experience in emergency services or Emergency or Disaster Preparedness, preferred.
• Experience in education or training, strongly preferred.
