MRI Technologist - 2nd Shift

 

Responsible for the performance of and quality of MRI procedures in the Radiology Department. This position provides services supporting the Radiology Mission of high quality, efficient care and emphasis on servicing the unique needs of each customer. This position with emphasize customer service as a first priority, with each employee adopting the departments "The Way We Care" philosophy. Demonstrates competencies defined (*) in MRI Imaging Technologist responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care to patients from the age of birth through 21 years, and selected adult patients.

 

Schedule: (Full time, Benefits Eligible)

3p-11:30pm M-F, may rotate some weekends & call.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the philosophy and objectives of Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Radiology Department. Interprets these to patients, parent and hospital staff.
  • Actively participates in the responsibility for MRI safety of each patient and other staff members by reviewing screening form prior to each patient's procedure.
  • Uphold and enforce all MRI safety practices and act accordingly to maintain the safety of patients, parents, and all staff who enter MRI suite (Zones 3 and 4). The MRI technologist is ultimately responsible for what and who enters the magnet room. If the MRI technologist is unable to continually monitor the magnet room and the entrance, they are responsible in assigning another capable individual to do so.
  • Schedules, prepares patients, and performs MRI procedures in accordance e with established protocols.
  • Operates MRI imaging equipment. Utilizes electronic information devices. Programs equipment for accurate imaging, determines correct anatomic area for imaging, and adjusts equipment factors for patient age, weight, size and special needs.
  • Performs venipuncture, and injects contrast for imaging, utilizing universal precautions. Follows department protocols for contrast dosage.
  • Sends accurate information to the PACS workstation for radiologist viewing and interpretation.
  • Prepares all related documentation for procedures.
  • Consults with Radiologist to determine additional or special imaging protocols, preparation, and imagine techniques.
  • Represents the department's customer service focus for both internal and external contacts. This shall include appropriate speech, mannerisms, and personal presentation as outlined in the Radiology Department Code of Conduct.
  • Maintains stocking of accessory supplies, patient care items and cleanliness of the MRI imaging areas. Initiates service requests and documents required information for Clinical Leader follow-up.
  • Assists the MRI Clinical Leader in collecting and monitoring CQI projects within the section.
  • Mentors and monitors new employees and rotating students as directed by the section Clinical Leader.
  • Complies with Radiology, JCAHO, CMS, OSHA and other regulatory guidelines and policies.
  • Performs procedures for research and testing, assisting the Radiologist in documenting and maintaining research information.
  • Maintains knowledge of current applications in the field of Radiologic/MR Technology and electronic imaging through seminars, educational programs and self-study.
  • Performs other related responsibilities required to maintain section and department functions.18. Maintains knowledge of PACS workstation, RadNet, Epic and 3T magnet.
  • Other related knowledge: Specific technologists will have knowledge of IMRIS/Siemens magnet on both the diagnostic side and operating room side. CPR must be current.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 

Education:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited educational program for Radiologic Technology.
  • Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required. (Active Status).

Required Experience:

  • High level of communication and organizational skills to meet the demands of a modern pediatric Radiology department's patient care and customer service mission.

Minimum Physical Requirement:

  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. (Occasionally)
  • Sitting (Frequently)

  • Typing on a keyboard (Frequently)
  • Walking (Frequently)
  • Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with the assistance of another person(s) and/or equipment. (Occasionally)
