Overview

Radiologic Technologist - Radiology Mansfield (Contingent)

 

Employee will be responsible for scheduling, performing and quality of imaging procedures in the Radiology Department. Technologist will team with the radiologist during the performance of imaging procedure and be able to utilize varied Radiographic and related equipment. The position provides Radiographic services supporting the radiology mission of high quality, efficient care with emphasis on serving the unique needs of each customer. The position will emphasize Customer service as a first priority with each employee adopting the department?s ?The Way We Care? philosophy. Demonstrates competencies defined in the radiographer responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care to patients from the age of birth through 26 years and selected adult patients.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the philosophy and objectives of Nationwide Children?s Hospital and the Radiology Department. Interprets these to patients, parents, and hospital staff.
  • Schedules, prepares patients, and performs General Radiography, Portable, OR, Outpatient Surgery Center, and Fluoroscopy procedures in accordance with established protocols.
  • Operates varied imaging equipment in General Radiographic, OR, Fluoroscopy and Portable. Utilizes electronic information devices. Programs equipment for accurate imaging, determines correct anatomic area for imaging, and adjusts equipment factors for patient age, weight, size, and special needs.
  • Completes all related documentation for procedures as prescribed by section protocols. Reviews, sends and verifies images within PACS to ensure all images are ready for dictation.
  • Consults with Radiologist to determine if additional or special imaging protocols, preparation, and/or techniques are required.
  • Identifies, prepares, and administers contrast under the direction and supervision of a licensed practitioner. Documents this information on the MAR.
  • Represents the department?s customer service focus for both internal and external contacts. This shall include appropriate speech, mannerisms, and personal presentation as outlined in the Radiology Department Code of Conduct.
  • Maintains stocking of accessory supplies, patient care items, and cleanliness of the General Radiographic and Fluoroscopic areas.
  • Training and knowledge to modify orders to reflect appropriate procedure based on clinical questions and symptoms.
  • Assists the Radiography/Fluoroscopy Manager in collecting and monitoring QA projects within the section.
  • Provides and assists orientation and training for new employees
  • Provides guidance and support in student education and training
  • Complies with NCH, Radiology, JCAHO, OSHA, CMS and other regulatory guidelines and policies
  • May perform the duties of receptionist/records room staff as directed by the section Clinical Manager.
  • Maintains knowledge of current applications in the field of Radiologic Technology through seminars, educational programs, and self-study.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

 

Education:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited educational program for Radiologic Technology.

Licensure:

  • Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required. (Active status)
  • Possession of a valid "R" category Ohio Radiological License.
  • Possess valid CPR certification

Experience:

  • 1-year clinical experience in the Radiological Sciences; preferably in a pediatric setting

Skills:

  • High level of communication and organizational skills to meet the demands of a modern pediatric Radiology department's patient care and customer service mission.Possess valid CPR certification

MINMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Standing/Walking/Sitting/Stooping/Kneeling/ Consistently (67-100%)
  • Reaching/BendingLifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling up to 50 lbs. Consistently (67-100%)
  • Talking/Hearing/Reading/Perform Manual Tasks Consistently (67-100%)
  • Move or Reposition patients of any weigh/size With assistance of another person and/or equipment Consistently (67-100%)
