Overview

The Data Analyst is a member of the Center for Clinical Excellence (CCE) Data Team. They gather requirements and design, develop, implement, and maintain reports, dashboards, and other analytical solutions to improve patient outcomes. In addition, the Data Analyst provides direction to Process Improvement (PI) teams, prepares reports, and presents information in plain language. The Data Analyst also participates in peer programming, testing, and code review.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical & business data support to CCE team by writing advanced SQL queries from Epic Clarity and other databases.
• Provides direction and guidance to teams on what data and tools are available and the best approach for analysis.
• Maintains & supports current data systems, i.e. Equipment Documentation, Press Ganey, etc. Provides data and training to end users as well as maintains database accuracy and integrity.
• Develops and supports databases, i.e. in Microsoft Access, Apex, etc. to meet CCE needs.
• Develops Business Intelligence tools, i.e. Excel, Qlik Sense to provide CCE teams the ability to self-serve and visualize their data.
• Develops interdisciplinary quality improvement activities to meet strategic plan and Joint Commission standards. Provides leadership in areas of PI and Joint Commission/ODH standards.
• Develops and mentors data analysts.
• Manages/develops/supports senior leadership reporting needs. Analyzes data and makes recommendations to management.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, information services, computer science, or other analytical programs.

Certifications:

• Must obtain Clarity Clinical Data Model Proficiency/Certification within 3 years of starting and/or maintain their proficiency/certification.

Skills:
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to quickly learn and work with new tools.
• Proficient in use of spreadsheets (e.g., MS Excel). Experience in creating computational and conditional formulas.
• Excellent analytical ability to summarize, aggregate, and analyze data.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with all levels of staff, outside vendors, and consultants.

Experience:

1-3 years’ experience in programming languages SQL (MS, Oracle) and relational databases.

•  1-3 years’ experience in report writing, preferred.

•  Experience working with healthcare data in general. Epic Clarity is preferred.

•  Experience analyzing data and communicating the results to leadership.

•  Experience with Minitab, SAS, or similar software helpful.
