Overview

The qualified individual with a bachelor degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related discipline will perform research experiments to study the disease mechanisms of nervous system tumors and evaluate potential therapeutics, assist in analyzing data, prepare and maintain laboratory reports, and assist in preparing publications.

Responsibilities

  • Performs clinical research studies independently or semi-independently in accordance with protocols approved by the principal investigator. Such experiments may involve the use of human subjects and may require evening and/or weekend duties.
  • Responsible for data collection utilizing various pieces of equipment while adhering to proper safety techniques and procedures.
  • Responsible for data analysis, reports, and interpretation with input from the principal investigator and/or other lab staff, while ensuring accuracy of laboratory analytical procedures.
  • Also responsible for patient information and maintaining accurate daily logs of experiments including methods, results, and conclusions.
  • Assists the principal investigator in the preparation of scientific publications and grant proposals in regards to assigned specific research projects.
  • Meet departmental goals in areas of customer support and satisfaction.
  • Must feel comfortable with computers and equipment and maintain a clean working area.
  • Responsible for laboratory equipment maintenance and repair with good communication skills to work with manufacturers, vendors, and other lab staff.
  • Instructs/assists other lab staff and students in standard methods, practices, procedures, and equipment operations.
  • Performs any additional clinical and research duties as assigned by the program Principal Investigator.

Qualifications

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Note frequency as Constantly (67-100%), Frequently (34-66%) and Occasionally (0-33%) for each requirement. Also note any lifting requirements with pound limit.

  • 100% Kneeling / reaching
  • 100% Finger dexterity
  • 100% Talking / hearing / seeing
  • 33% Lifting / carrying weight 0-40 pounds for 1-5 minutes
