Senior Research Associate - Center for Injury Research & Policy- Dr. Michaels lab

The Center for Injury Research and Policy, located in the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, is seeking applicants for a full-time Senior Research Associate position. The Senior Research Associate will work under the direction of Nichole Michaels, PhD, on an NIH-funded research project to implement and evaluate an opioid overdose harm reduction intervention. The Senior Research Associate will serve as the Study Coordinator for this project and will perform a variety of activities, including project management and coordination of research team activities.

This position requires in-state travel for participant recruitment and retention and other study activities. Some evening and weekend hours are expected.

Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the daily activities of the research team
  • Schedule and coordinate project site visits and participant recruitment/follow up
  • Work with the study PIs to develop study protocols
  • Manage IRB applications and ensure study team compliance with all IRB and study protocols
  • Recruit and retain research participants
  • Follow participant consent and enrollment procedures
  • Implement the opioid overdose harm reduction intervention with fidelity to established protocols
  • Collect and manage data and document study procedures
  • Code and analyze data using appropriate quantitative and qualitative procedures
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the research team and study partners
  • Mentor student research staff
  • Prepare scientific publications and presentations
  • Participate in the writing and submission of research grant applications
  • Monitor study expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints
  • Prepare project reports regularly

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with at least 2 years of experience in public health, social work, psychology, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree plus highly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of advanced degree.
  • Experience with human subjects research and/or public health intervention delivery required
  • Must have reliable vehicle and ability to travel throughout the state
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Must be comfortable working with diverse populations and individuals with substance use disorders
  • Must have strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required
