Behavioral Health Telecrisis Clinician I


The BH Telecrisis Clinician facilitates crisis-oriented triage, assessment, and other appropriate mental health screenings and interventions via telehealth methods to appropriate children and families to assists with the management of psychiatric and/or behavioral health concerns occurring within various settings, in collaboration with other NCH medical specialties.


Schedule: (36hrs per week, Benefits Eligible) 8pm-8am shift (Nights)

  • Facilitates culturally appropriate crisis-oriented triage, assessment, and other appropriate mental health screenings via telehealth methods to appropriate children and families.
  • Provides appropriate brief therapeutic interventions, care coordination, safety planning, or other therapeutic interventions to assigned patients.
  • Facilitates the Youth Psychiatric Crisis Line, NCH Partner and Provider line, and facilitates the NCH Outside Hospital Referral process.
  • Recommends disposition for least restrictive level of care, utilizing case conceptualization, supervision and staffing as appropriate.
  • Initiates mandatory reporting of abuse and/or neglect to Child Protective Services or other applicable agencies per Ohio law.
  • Maintains familiarity with the research and/or literature in areas of expertise.
  • Completes required charting and/or clinical documentation in accordance with NCH and applicable program standards.
  • Facilitates training to staff and providers of NCH approved crisis management training and de-escalation techniques.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


Education: Masters from an accredited university or professional school


Licensure: Appropriate Ohio counseling (LPC) or social work (LSW) licensure required; independent licensure preferred.


Certifications: Upon hire, must complete and pass NCH endorsed Crisis Management Training



  • Demonstrated skills in providing behavioral health assessment and treatment to children and adolescents.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise a degree of independence, initiative, judgment, and decision-making to prioritize workload and achieve program objectives.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team member to ensure consistent quality of services that support a high level of patient and provider satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills required to establish and maintain productive and collaborative team and multi-disciplinary relationships.


  • One year of providing crisis-based mental health services with children and adolescents preferred.
  • Previous experience facilitating telehealth services preferred.
  • Experience with training or instruction in group settings preferred.

  • Typing on a keyboard Frequently (34-66%)
  • Standing/walking Occasionally (0-33%)
