The Primary Care Ambulatory Patient Access Rep is responsible for greeting and registering patients, collecting and maintaining accurate patient information, medical records, and assisting with chart preparation and electronic medical records. The Primary Care Ambulatory Patient Access Rep provides age-appropriate care and service to patients from the age of birth to 21 years, and selected adults. Demonstrates awareness of and support for the principle of Family Centered Care.

  • Manages the entire patient registration process: collect/assess/enter current patient information for insurance, billing and other purposes while maintaining adherence to HIPAA guidelines regarding patient confidentiality.
  • Oversees registration and waiting room area and maintains a clean, safe, organized space.
  • Handles scheduling, pre-authorization, pre-certification, pre-registration processes.
  • Assists patients and families with financial and billing processes. Directs families to necessary resources.
  • Performs various administrative and clerical tasks, (answering phones, screening scheduling).
  • Works collaboratively and effectively with all levels of internal staff and as a member of a team.


What Are We Looking For?        

To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess these minimum qualifications and experience:

  • High School graduate
  • One year pre-registration, registration, admitting, or customer service experience
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Ability to adapt to change positively in work flow and process

 Advantageous capabilities and distinctions:

  • Associates degree
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in billing processes and insurance verification
  • Knowledge of impact of the revenue cycle on hospital operations
  • Familiar with medical terminology

  • Sitting frequently
  • Talking on phone/in person - frequently
  • Typing on a keyboard – constantly
  • Physically Active - frequently
