Overview

We are seeking a Research Assistant- A Research position is available immediately for an Assistant to help with implementing novel EEG-based assessments for evaluating sensory and cognitive functions of infant and pediatric populations. The Maitre Neurodevelopmental Lab team focuses on the neurodevelopment of high-risk infants and rehabilitation of their long-term disabilities.

Responsibilities

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Coordinates with nurses/parents to schedule research EEG recordings in the NICU and in outpatient settings
  • Performs research EEG recordings in the NICU and in outpatient settings
  • Manges EEG data acquisition and preparation for analysis and maintains accurate logs
  • Enters and maintains accurate patient data
  • Collaborates with other researchers conducting similar studies at NCH and at other research institutions
  • Assists in preparation of scientific publications
  • Provides training and management of student involvement in EEG recordings and EEG review
  • Review study protocol, consent, and supporting documents that are submitted to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and maintain regulatory binders
  • Create source documentation to aid in protocol implementation and data collection
  • Conduct subject visits during the intervention and follow up period of each study
  • Administers DAYC assessment at follow up visits
  • Manage elements of clinical studies to meet protocol obligations and adhere to ICH/GCP guidelines
  • Performs miscellaneous related duties as required
  • Serves as a resource to families in the NICU

 

Qualifications

What Are We Looking For?

To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess these minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above
  • At least 2 years of experience in patient-oriented research setting
  • Experience working with young children
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Possesses computer and software application skills
  • Works independently with minimal supervision

Minimum Physical Requirements:

 

50% Conducting research studies

25% Collecting and analyzing data

10% Preparing position papers, publications and grant proposals

05% Resource person for other investigators

05% Mentoring less experienced research personnel

05% Purchasing supplies

100% Kneeling / reaching 100% Finger dexterity 100% Talking / hearing / seeing 33% Lifting / carrying weight 0-20 pounds for 1-5 minutes
