    The Child and Adolescent Psych NP fellow will be provided with advanced training which builds upon current new graduate Psychiatric NP skills. The fellow will provide advanced patient centered healthcare to children and adolescents with both complex acute and chronic mental health conditions obtained from advanced formal education, certification and clinical practice. The fellow will maintain a current Ohio Advanced License. The Psychiatric NP fellow will practice within the full scope of advanced nursing practice and promote patient advocacy in accordance with ANA professional nursing code of ethics. The fellow will integrate current knowledge of professional issues, health care trends and technological advances into scope of practice.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic assessment and develops, implements and evaluates plans of care; clearly documents and communicates information both in written and verbal forms.
    • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established guidelines and standards as necessary for the care of the patient
    • Utilizing evidence based practice, serves as a clinical expert for policies, procedures, documentation, and skills.
    • Assists in the education, training and development of new and existing staff members.
    • Engages in the “community of the work unit” by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, engages in Quality Improvement.
    • Leverages technology and informatics to optimize healthcare outcomes.
    • Commits to continued professional development of self and others.
    • Contributes to the division and/or specialty goals and the Hospital Strategic Plan
    • Provides psychoeducation and counseling to individuals and family member
    • Safely prescribes pharmacologic agents and provides ongoing medication management and monitoring
    • Evaluates patient progress in attaining expected outcomes
    • Coordinates plan of care with interdisciplinary team
    • Initiates and completes a QI project during the fellowship
    • Manages psychiatric emergencies across all settings
    • Demonstrates appropriate assessment and decision-making skills regarding the use of seclusion and restraints according to established guidelines and standards of patient care as well as hospital policy
    • Performs comprehensive suicide risk assessment and develops appropriate safety plan and patient disposition

    Qualifications

    Master of Science degree with PMHNP Specialization

    Licensure Requirement Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Ohio
