The Behavioral Intervention Aide implements behavioral intervention for young children diagnosed with autism. The individualized intervention procedures are designed by a Case Supervisor, supervised by a Senior Behavioral Intervention Aide, and are carried out by the BI Aide working in the child?s home or school. New BI Aides are provided with extensive training on Autism and behavioral intervention techniques. The training is a combination of lecture trainings and hands-on training. The lecture trainings cover diagnosis, research, and basic principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis. The hands-on trainings occur in the client's home, school, or in the community. During the hands-on training the new BI Aides will shadow trained staff to learn how to put theory into practice. The BI Aides are integral to the services provided by the Intensive Behavioral Intervention Program, which is one branch of Nationwide Children's Hospital Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders.
