    The Scheduler is responsible for managing the patient scheduling activities of the entire section.  This involves Intake of the patient referral information and scheduling initial consultation appointment, scheduling specialty procedures for Interventional Radiology and any follow-up consultation appointments and/or Imaging, insurance pre-certification and any general patient follow-up.


    1. Intake Process

    a. Retrieve and process all pertinent patient demographics, insurance information and clinical information

    b. Enter patient demographics and insurance information in Epic system and patient database

    c. Upload any Radiology Images and corresponding report with Radiology File Room

    d. Create patient chart

    e. Coordinate available dates with patient/family

    f. Schedule Initial Consult appointment for assigned physician

    2. Scheduling Procedures

    a. Coordinate available dates with patient/family

    b. Schedule all specialty procedures for assigned physician

    c. Ensure that pre-certification process is completed prior to the procedure date

    d. Provide appointment information to patient/family

    e. Provide patient reminders as appropriate

    3. Follow-up Appointments

                   a. Coordinate available dates with patient/family

                   b. Schedule follow-up In-house or phone consultation appointments or follow-up Imaging Studies

                   c. Upload any Radiology Images for physician review


    Other Information


    1. High School graduate or equivalent. Knowledgeable in PC Operation

    2. Two years previous medical secretary experience.

    3. Must be able to manage daily deadlines.

    4. Excellent customer service skills to interact with the public internal and external.

    40% Typing on computer

    40% Answering telephones

    16% Paperwork

    02% Xeroxing

    02% Filing

    Minimum physical requirements:

    Sitting Constantly (67-100%)

    Talking on telephone Constantly (67-100%)

    Typing on keyboard Constantly (67-100%)

    Standing/walking/reaching/bending Occasionally (0-33%)

    Pressure in this position will vary depending on the workload. The workload will be heavy but manageable most of the time.
