The Behavioral Health Outpatient Therapist is responsible for the clinical assessment, behavioral health treatment and related care management strategies of children, adolescents and their families. This individual is responsible to utilize individual, group and family modalities within expected practice standards and as informed by the professional literature. The Outpatient Therapist will possess the skills to provide interventions at the outpatient site as well as in the school setting, natural environment and other community facilities. This individual will provide culturally appropriate interactions and interventions across all professional and clinical settings.
1. Remains current in required licensure and clinical or other training as required.
2. Accurately assesses and documents client presenting problems, history, symptomology, mental status, diagnosis and prescribes initial interventions in a timely manner.
3. Meets with client/family to assist in developing specific, realistic, and measurable treatment goals and objectives.
4. Employs strategies of intervention that are consistent with empirically supported treatments and consistent with program expectations.
5. Remains current in general knowledge of psychopharmacology in pediatric behavioral healthcare and collaborates consistently with team psychiatrist.
6. Completes clinical charting and other related administrative paperwork in accordance with policy standards.
7. Practices within professional areas of expertise.
8. Maintains productivity expectations.
9. Effectively coordinates client care with other service providers and community resources to assure continuity of care.
10. Meets regularly with Clinical Coordinator or designee.
11. Attends routine staff meetings.
12. Attends in-service trainings, peer review and other intra-agency and supervisory activities.
13. Demonstrates willingness to seek/accept direct supervision as well as respect productive feedback from colleagues and others.
14. Strives to maintain positive patient satisfaction.
15. Supports the philosophy, goals and mission of Nationwide Children's Hospital.
16. Performs other duties as assigned by Clinical Coordinator or Administrator.
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. Masters or doctoral degree from an accredited university or professional school of Counseling, Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy;
2. Appropriate Independent Ohio licensure;
3. Demonstrated skills and abilities in providing and managing behavioral healthcare to children, adolescent and families;
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, peers and community representatives;
5. Staff members hired into the MSW-Outpatient Social Worker position prior to May 2011 can be grandfathered into this position.
