Exciting opportunity available to join the Behavioral Health Early Childhood Mental Health team!
Change the lives of young children by joining an exciting team expanding Early Childhood Mental Health services in the Central Ohio area. Nationwide Children's Hospital Behavioral Health is looking for a new Early Childhood Mental Health Therapist. This unique position will primarily focus on providing parenting program groups and trainings for caregivers with children ages birth through six throughout central Ohio. In addition the ECMH therapist will also provide individual family-focused consultation and ECMH family therapy in office and community settings. Therapists enjoy working on an innovative, multidisciplinary team as part of a larger ECMH program with a continuum of prevention and treatment services and receive intensive supervision, training and professional development. For this position, knowledge of parenting programs (e.g., Triple P and Incredible Years) as well as experience working with caregivers with substance abuse is preferred.
The Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) Therapist is responsible for providing community-based treatment focused on developing attachment, parenting strategies and social-emotional development with children from infancy through age six and their caregivers. Job duties include completing developmentally-sensitive, trauma informed diagnostic assessments, providing evidence-based/evidence-informed intervention, ensuring linkage with other ancillary early childhood services, and providing early childhood mental health consultation/education. Referrals come from the county child welfare agency as well as from throughout Franklin County; families may be at risk for or have experienced abuse/neglect and are often involved in multiple systems of care. This position requires occasional early evening appointments and on-call responsibilities. The ECMH clinicians are located in a downtown NCH location, but most services occur in the community. The Ohio MHAS ECMH Credential is preferred; training and supervision toward this credential will be provided. The ECMH Clinician will gain valuable experience in early childhood development and mental health; in identifying, assessing and understanding the integration of behavioral health, trauma symptoms, and child development, in working with the child welfare population, and training/professional development in evidence-based care in ECMH. The ECMH clinician will show the ability to build relationships across systems to increase collaboration, work independently to balance tasks and deadlines, show experience in working with young children and their families or in assessment skills , and maintain flexibility in accomplishing tasks. The position will require extensive interaction with parents and their children. It will require the ability to get on the floor and engage in play activities with the parent/child dyad.

1. Provides Early Childhood Mental Health assessment and /or treatment at home, school, and biological family visits and offers referrals/resources when needed.
2. Incorporates trauma-informed care philosophy, practices and strategies in all activities.

15. Performs other duties as assigned by Clinical Coordinator or Administrator.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
1. Master’s degree from an accredited university or professional school of Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
2. Appropriate Ohio licensure with preference given to independent licensure.
3. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in ECMH.
4. Training in early childhood and related evidence-based treatment models such as Incredible Years, PCIT, Child-Parent Psychotherapy preferred. Training/experience in trauma treatment or trauma-informed practices preferred.
5. Comprehensive knowledge of child growth and development and family systems which impact on the development of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
6. Ability to use appropriate assessment tools to determine the current developmental levels of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and to link those assessments to program plans.
7. Knowledge of state and community programs and early intervention and special needs preschool resources is desirable.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, peers and community representatives.
To maintain reliable transportation, and both an acceptable driving record and automobile insurance, with acceptable coverage for business driving/transporting of consumers, in accordance with NCH policies;
