A postdoctoral position is available immediately for a scientist with experience in cell / molecular biology and / or tissue engineering. The Chiang lab is investigating the mechanisms of regeneration in tissue engineered tracheal replacement. Our lab evaluates the clinical performance in large animal models of orthotopic tracheal replacement using tissue engineered scaffolds and then defines the mechanisms driving regeneration using in vitro and mouse models. Appointment as a Post Doc is a minimum of 2 years in length contingent upon satisfactory evaluation after 12 months of employment.

Experience in rodent surgery is desirable. Expertise in cell / molecular biology, and / or biomaterials is preferred. The candidate is expected to confer regularly with the principal investigator but must incorporate self-directed research, excellent technical, presentation, and communication skills as essential parts of the job. The candidate will be expected to co-publish scientific articles in appropriate refereed journals, and to work toward the goal of becoming independent in his/her research effort and obtaining external research funding. Must have Ph.D. degree in relevant field of science from an accredited college. The candidate is expected to work toward research independence, submit proposals and obtain funding from external granting agencies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
1. Ph.D., or equivalent degree.
2. Desire to pursue a career in biomedical research, and knowledge of the research process.
3. Necessary technical skills in the appropriate area of research. Background in small animal surgery desirable.
4. Ability to do technical writing, and good communication skills.
